Main Page
From wiki.urbandictionary.com
This wiki is for users of the Urban Dictionary API. The API allows developers to use Urban Dictionary content in their own applications.
License key and endpoint
To use the API, first get a free license key (http://www.urbandictionary.com/api.php). Most of the API methods require the license key as the first parameter. Then, you can send SOAP requests to http://api.urbandictionary.com/soap.
You'll also need the key if you want to edit pages in this wiki. The key is required to discourage spammers.
What's here
Once you have the key, you might be interested to see:
- API Method documentation
- Code examples to help you write your client
- WSDL (http://api.urbandictionary.com/soap?wsdl), a machine-readable description of the methods
- Apps that use the API (add your own)
- Suggestions for more functions
- Support for assistance/questions/bugs
What's not here
If you're not a developer but you have a web page, check out Urban Word of the Day via Javascript (http://urbanup.com/tools_daily.php), which enables you to put the Urban Word of the Day on your web page.
Urban Dictionary content is also available on your cell phone (http://urbanup.com/tools_phone.php) and via RSS (http://urbanup.com/tools_rss.php).
